Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre

Fortified with backup systems and emergency protocols, the Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre is designed to provide continual emergency services to the North Vancouver community. Located within the environmentally sensitive Maplewood Flats Wild Bird Sanctuary, this project is LEED® Gold registered, Passive House certified and Net Zero. The extensive use of SunGuard™ SNX 51/23 on clear glass not only enhances aesthetic appeal but contributes to a bright, open atmosphere. This glass also features a bird-friendly frit pattern and a clean, attractive, functional appearance that balances light and solar performance. The building’s front has custom digital First Nations artwork produced by Goldray Glass to match four custom colors that ensure uniformity across the design. This approach highlights cultural significance and makes it a model for sustainable, socially responsive public infrastructure.
