Designed by London-based practice Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Parc.1 is a mixed-use complex located on Yeouido in Seoul. The development combines the city’s largest shopping center, The Hyundai Seoul, with two west-facing office towers and a hotel with rooftop restaurant. This is all marked by a striking exterior inspired by red steel columns. Operational energy is reduced through a fabric-first approach with high performance glazed facades and natural light maximized to help reduce the need for artificial lighting and provide a comfortable working environment. Parc.1 is the first building in South Korea to be certified pre-Gold by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and has a Green 1 rating, the highest grade under South Korea’s G-SEED standard for energy and environmental design.
Guardian SunGuard™ SuperNeutral (SN) 62/34 glass was chosen for the glazed facades. SN 62/34 (now replaced by SN 63) is a double silver coated solar control glass with a very light neutral grey appearance. The glass also provides high light transmission, excellent thermal insulation, low internal reflection, and very low external reflection, as well as excellent solar control.
